Meanwhile, Lincoln County Sheriff Bill Beam clarified Tuesday evening that a Lincoln County detective was not wounded in the incident, as had been initially reported. Controlling the Crowd
Police initially believed there were two shooters involved in the incident, including the individual killed in the initial shootout, but Jennings said Tuesday he's not ready to say there was a second shooter. The two persons of interest are fully cooperating with the investigation and haven't been charged, he said. Saturday’s protests in Charlotte remained mostly peaceful for several hours. CMPD officers marched along with the crowd to make sure the protesters stayed safe and peaceful. On Friday and Saturday, protests turned violent during the evening hours, and it continued through the night. Police said that a large group of protests was marching on Caldwell Street.
